This is the main risk of buying. Once you own the machine, you are responsible for its disposal or resale. If your business needs change or technology advances significantly, you are stuck with your current asset until you decide to buy a new one.

  • Fair Market Value (FMV): Lower monthly payments. At the end, you return the copier or buy it for its current market value. This is best if you want to upgrade to a new model every 3–5 years.
  • $1 Buyout (Capital Lease): Higher monthly payments, but you own the copier for exactly $1 at the end of the term. This is essentially a “rent-to-own” finance plan.
